On November 6 and November 7, 2021, the first "Future Cup" badminton tournament of the School of Future Technology of Peking University was successfully held in the Khoo Teck Puat Gymnasium of Peking University. Academician Cheng Heping of the Future Technical College delivered the opening speech for the competition. The tournament was presided over by Dr. Chen Zhixing and Li Hejun, from the College of Future Technology. A total of 14 teams participated in the competition, and more than 130 teachers and students from more than 20 research groups participated.

At the opening ceremony, Chen Zhixing first explained to all the participants the preparation of the competition and the participation of each competition, and introduced the members of the organizing committee of the competition and the detailed rules of the competition. Subsequently, Academician Cheng Heping made a opening remark for the competition, and he stressed that as the first sports event since the establishment of the college, this competition is an important opportunity to enhance the cohesion of the college and an important symbol to guide teachers and students to attach importance to physical exercise. He said that a good mentality and a healthy physique is necessary for engaging in scientific research work, sports can help them relax and exercise, hoping that teachers and students can enjoy the game on the field, form a good atmosphere of attaching importance to physical exercise outside the arena, and devote themselves to scientific research work and contribute to youth with the spirit of hard work and strong physique.

Considering the importance of epidemic prevention, the organizing committee of the competition strictly verified the health codes of the participants before the competition, and prepared various epidemic prevention materials on the field to remind and protect them in place. After the first day of competition, a total of eight teams enter the second day of ranking competition. After two days of fierce competition, the exciting 2021 PKU-CFT "Future Cup" badminton tournament came to an end on November 7. Among them, the team of Cheng Heping's research group, Zhang Xiuqin, Zhao Yang's research group, and He Aibin's research group won the first, second and third places in the competition.

At the closing ceremony, Prof. Sun Yujie, Vice Dean of the School of Future Technology, delivered a speech and presented the award. He highly affirmed the effect of the competition and the youthful strength and sportsmanship shown by the participating teams in the competition.

This year's PKU-CFT "Future Cup" Badminton Tournament provides a broad stage for teachers and students to show their sports skills and cultivate team spirit. On the occasion of the Winter Olympic Games, CFT students will continue to inherit the spirit of hard work and upward sports, and greet the Winter Olympic Games with youthful dedication.
